Job summary

VTG seeks a Data Analyst in Washington, DC (remote-friendly) to support the Submarine Industrial Base Data team. You will collect, query, and maintain data structures, produce ad hoc analyses, and deliver clear results to senior leadership.

The role collaborates with data engineers and governance practices to ensure data integrity and actionable insights. Required skills include Python, SQL, Excel, and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau).

Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance and ability to maintain it.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Data Science or related field; four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• At least four years of combined data architecture and data analysis experience with hands-on data modeling/architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with experience on large, multi-source datasets.
• Strong SQL skills for complex queries across relational databases.
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, PivotTables, data visualization, and automation.
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau for BI/visualization.
• Experience researching and responding to data requests with documented sources and methods.
• Experience presenting analysis to senior or executive-level decision makers.

Responsibilities

• Collect, query, and maintain data structures the SIB Data team relies on.
• Write and execute ad hoc SQL and Python scripts to aggregate and clean data.
• Develop clear, well-supported responses including summaries, tables, and visualizations.
• Document sources, methods, assumptions, and limitations for repeatable results.
• Maintain a library of prior requests to speed future turnaround.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Apply data standards, naming conventions, and maintain data catalog/dictionary.
• Assess data sources for quality and recommend actions for gaps or conflicts.
• Support data governance practices and CUI handling.
