Job summary

National Machinery is seeking a Data Analyst to write and maintain SQL queries against ERP and business systems, and to build reports and dashboards used by production, engineering, purchasing and finance.

You will work directly with business users to clarify requirements, deliver actionable insights, document data sources and reporting logic, and contribute to data quality improvements in an on-site environment in Ohio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in a data analyst, reporting analyst or similar role.
• Strong SQL skills: Joins, aggregation, and the ability to read and troubleshoot queries written by others.
• Experience building reports or dashboards in a tool such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau or similar.
• Ability to translate business questions into data requirements and explain results to non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail and the judgment to question results that don’t look right.

Data Analyst

Write and maintain SQL queries against our ERP and related business systems to answer questions from across the company. Build and support reports and dashboards used by production, engineering, purchasing and finance. Work directly with business users to understand what they’re asking for, clarify requirements and deliver something they can act on. Investigate data discrepancies and work with the team to identify root causes and corrections. Document data sources, definitions and report logic so others can understand and maintain the work. Support ongoing data quality and reporting process improvements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in a data analyst, reporting analyst or similar role.
• Strong SQL skills: Joins, aggregation, and the ability to read and troubleshoot queries written by others.
• Experience building reports or dashboards in a tool such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau or similar.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with ERP or other enterprise business system data.
• Familiarity with both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle environments.
• Exposure to Excel at an advanced level or scripting experience in Python or similar for data preparation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Office and shop environment.
• Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required in shop areas.
