Job summary

Siemens Rail Automation US in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Freight Estimating Analyst for data-driven estimating and proposal development. The role collaborates with estimating, engineering, and strategic design to gather requirements, review bid readiness, and implement analytics-driven solutions onsite.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Math, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related subject.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in Freight Rail Engineering, freight products, estimating, and proposal development.
• Strong analytical capabilities with data analysis, process optimization, operational excellence, continuous improvement initiatives, quality programs, and change management projects.
• Proven ability to manage complex and high-impact projects while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions including Engineering, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Sales.
• Leadership experience through project management or people leadership, paired with a customer-focused mindset, adaptability, and the ability to quickly learn and implement new processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily estimating prep focusing on data analysis for margins and competitive estimates.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Sales to bid per Scope of Work.
• Schedule meetings with Sales/Management to review bids.
• Attend meetings to review opportunities and align on bid dates.
• Collaborate with Estimating and Design teams to develop analytics solutions, including training.
• Develop estimates using advanced tools and processes.
• Streamline processes and analytics improvements.
• Create requirements documents for estimates and proposals.
• Support tool improvements with cross-team analytics development.

Job description

At Siemens Rail Automation US, the Freight Estimating Organization supports high-impact sales support work by turning complex information into credible pricing and proposals. This onsite role in Jacksonville, FL focuses on leading estimating and proposal activities through data-driven analysis and close collaboration with internal stakeholders.

You will work with teams across estimating, engineering, and strategic design and development to gather requirements, review bid readiness, and implement data analytic solutions that strengthen decision-making and business outcomes.

What you’ll do

• Perform daily estimating preparation with an emphasis on analyzing data to support contractual obligations, optimal Gross Margin, and competitive estimates for domestic and international opportunities.
• Review specifications and coordinate with Engineering and Sales to ensure Siemens is bidding to the prescribed and documented Scope of Work.
• Arrange meetings with Sales and/or Management to review bids prior to submittal and address any issues during the bid phase.
• Attend internal and external meetings to review open opportunities, align on bid date commitments, and communicate issues that arise.
• Interface with Estimating and Strategic Design and Development teams to develop and implement data analytic solutions, including testing and training others.
• Develop estimates using advanced tools and processes.
• Focus on streamlining processes and data analytic improvements.
• Create requirements documentation for estimates and proposals.
• Support estimating tool improvements by collaborating with Estimating and Strategic Design and Development teams on data analytic solution development and implementation.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Math, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related subject area.
• Advanced degree preferred.

• Salary: USD 123,318 per year
