TEKsystems is seeking a Kibana Dashboard Software Engineer to support the Innovations Group in Fort Meade, MD. The role involves architecting and delivering a unified UX/UI on the Kibana platform with a focus on data visualization and dashboards.

You will work in an Agile team, perform requirements analysis, develop UI mockups and ensure accessibility and design standards are applied across JavaScript, HTML and CSS-based applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.

Description

Seeking a Kibana Dashboard Software Engineer to support the Innovations Group as a member of End to End Visualization Team. Candidate must be within driving distance of Fort Meade, MD. At a minimum, a Secret clearance is required upon the start of employment and within 14 days following the start date the employee must obtain their Security + certification.

As a key End to End Visualization team member, you will work as part of a fast paced, Agile development and implementation team to architect, design and develop a unified User Experience / User Interface (UX/UI) that provides a holistic single-pane-of-glass interface for an integrated solution on the Kibana platform. You will also work with operational end users and support teams to perform requirements analysis, as well as design, develop and demonstrate UI mockups and wireframes.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Researching, designing, developing and user-testing experiences and making strategic user-experience decisions while working closely with product owners, engineers and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.

• Conducting usability studies and proactively identifying and devising solutions for issues with the existing experience. Tracking success of experience focused changes and iterating as necessary to improve performance.

• Independently conducting UI requirements interviews, prototype reviews, surveys, and usability sessions.

• Developing personas, user flows, scenarios, user stories, goal/task analysis, system workflows and other key tools of user-centered design that simplify and enhance the insights acquired from complex data analytics platforms.

• Translating concepts into user flows, wireframes, and work collaboratively to create mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experience.

• Applying the basics of visual design (i.e UI) principles in their design work such as visual hierarchy, proximity, similarity, font selection and color theory and demonstrate an understanding of visual, layout, content organization, and accessibility guidelines.

• Designing, supporting development, documenting, testing and deploying applications and UI prototypes to be written by software team in JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

• Designing, developing and deploying dashboards and reports using the Elastic stack, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and Beats.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a relevant technical discipline and 2+ year of related experience obtained through any combination of coursework and internships.

• 1+ years of demonstrable experience designing, developing and deploying dashboards and reports using the Elastic stack, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and Beats.

• 2+ years of UX/UI architecture, design, development and delivery experience. Strong documentation skills with a proven ability to develop architecture diagrams and wireframes.

• Software development experience with Python, Java and SQL. Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.

• Experience with distributed version control software such as Git and Bitbucket.

• Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of Software Engineering.

• Experience developing software on a UNIX command line platform.

• Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team.

• Ability to obtain interim Secret DoD Security clearance prior to start date.

• Ability to obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 60 days of start date.

• Must be able to commute to Ft. Meade, MD for full time onsite support

• Experience in architecture, design, develop, and delivery of data driven operations capabilities, within a DoD environment.

• Experience working with a highly technical team and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence and Git repo

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers, and architects.

• Candidate to be able to work with strict deadlines.

• Ability to work well/collaborate with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and practices.

Additional Skills & Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data Visualization and dashboards

• Elastic/Kibana Engineer.

• Software design and development experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS and JSON/REST APIs in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus).

• Experience developing, building and deploying software using Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory and Ansible (or equivalent tools).

• Experience with big data applications.

• Experience with cloud-based AWS services.

• Knowledge of designing, developing and deploying solutions using DevOps/DevSecOps concepts.

• Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards.

• Experience or familiarity with Agile development and testing methodology

• Experience with DISA and DoD Networks.

• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps, Configuration as Code, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD implementation

• Understanding of network routing devices and network device configurations

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Meade, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
