Job summary

Skagit Valley Family YMCA Mount Vernon, WA seeks a creative Dance Instructor to lead classes for teens to seniors and youth programs aged 1–12. You will teach Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Creative Dance, guiding participants toward a festive, end-of-season performance and building confidence, movement, and musicality in a welcoming space.

The role emphasizes inclusive instruction, interactive teaching tools, progressive lessons, and collaboration with the Youth Program Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience teaching dance in a structured environment.
• Ability to work with participants of all ages and backgrounds.
• CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Abuse Prevention and Mandatory Reporting training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead dance classes for teens through older adults and youth 1–12.
• Create progressive, age-appropriate lesson plans and camps.
• Choreograph a 2-minute routine for the final performance.
• Maintain safe, welcoming class environments and strong customer service.
• Collaborate with Youth Program Coordinator and staff meetings.
