Job summary

City of Kirkland's North Kirkland Community Center is seeking a Hip Hop Instructor to lead dance classes for kids aged 5–11. Plan and teach upbeat, age-appropriate sessions while creating a safe, fun environment and communicating with parents.

Ideal candidates will have solid hip hop knowledge, a creative teaching style, and experience with youth. Must be 18+, with background check, and ability to obtain First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications

• 6 months of related teaching experience.
• First Aid/CPR certification by start date.
• Background check required under Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to interact courteously with the public.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in standard computer software.

What You'll Do:

• Creative, flexible teaching style
• Experience working with children ages 5-11
• Strong communication and classroom management skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good communication skills are required.
• Ability to interact courteously with the public.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
• Proficiency in standard computer software.
• Must have 6 months of related teaching experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification by start date.
• Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is performed in a community center setting, with high levels of noise. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks.
