Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Dance Instructor to lead ballet and hip hop classes, greet members, and foster a welcoming workout environment. You will demonstrate safe movements, provide modifications, and maintain facility safety while engaging participants and building community.

Responsibilities include leading classes, ensuring equipment is set up and broken down on time, and upholding YMCA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 or older.
• If actively enrolled in high school, a valid Work Permit is required.
• 18+ and fingerprinting per state requirements for YMCA staff.
• Dance experience preferred.
• All required trainings within 90 days of hire.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire from ARC, AHA or ASHI.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and keeping them actively engaged.
• Demonstrate safe form, provide modifications and cueing.
• Maintain a clean and safe workout area.
• Use scheduled class time effectively.
• Set up and breakdown class equipment within allotted timeframe.
• Build community by learning names and helping members reach wellness goals.
• Adhere to YMCA guidelines and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively to groups of members.
• Lead and participate in exercise/fitness activities.
• Possess the visual and auditory ability to respond in emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
