Job summary

Boston College Bands Program seeks a part-time Dance Team Instructor to provide instruction and support for the “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band Dance Team. This role requires extensive experience choreographing and teaching pom, kickline, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop styles, with availability for preseason Camp, rehearsals, and travel performances.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in dance or dance education preferred.
• Proven choreography and instructional experience across pom, kickline, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop.
• Experience managing a dance ensemble.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to and motivate college students.
• Must attend Band Camp, all rehearsals, and all performances.
• Must manage uniforms, costumes, props, and equipment.
• Ability to consult regarding programming during the off-season.
• Must work with student leader to meet recruiting needs.
• Must meet with candidates and review auditions to select new dancers.
• Must be available for post-season bowl travel.

Job Description

Dance Team Instructor (10 hours per week, 9 months)

The Boston College Bands Program seeks a part-time Dance Team Instructor to provide instruction and support for the “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band Dance Team. Applicants should have extensive experience choreographing and instructing students in various dance forms including pom, kickline, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop styles. Applicants must be available for our preseason Camp during the last two weeks of August from 9 AM to 10 PM in addition to weekly rehearsals during the fall and spring seasons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 PM to 10 PM. In addition to seven home football games, applicants must be available for occasional special events and travel performances including potential bowl games.

Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Salary: $7,918

Requirements

• A master’s degree in dance or dance education is preferred.
