Job summary

DeKalb Park District is seeking a part-time Dance Assistant Instructor to assist with planning, instructing, and monitoring dance classes and performances. You will help maintain a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for participants and work under the Lead Dance Instructor and Cultural Arts & Special Events Manager.

Required are 16+ years old, prior dance experience, and ability to work Monday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings.

Qualifications

16 years of age or older.
Previous dance experience required.
Previous experience teaching and/or working with children preferred.
CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain within three months.

Responsibilities

Assist with teaching dance program classes.
Establish and maintain good communication with participants, parents, staff and supervisor.
Arrive early to class to ensure classes begin promptly.
Provide high level of customer service in a professional manner.
Supervise participants to ensure safety, engagement, and positive participation.
Demonstrate professional behavior and appearance at all times.
Maintain attendance, incident reports and required documentation.
Set up and help maintain the facility, equipment, and dance floor.
Keep the program site clean, organized, and safe.
Follow safety procedures and assist with risk management.
Provide first aid as needed.
Lead classes if needed when Lead instructor is unavailable.
