Stake Center Locating is seeking a Damage Investigator to promote damage prevention and uphold safe practices in utility locating operations. You will investigate underground utility damages, analyze contributing factors, and identify corrective actions with field teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in utility locating, underground utility construction, damage prevention, or related fields.
• Knowledge of underground utilities, locating procedures, excavation practices, and damage prevention principles.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of gathering facts, evaluating evidence, and documenting findings objectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with field personnel, leadership, and clients.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple investigations and deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and skills in record-keeping and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
• Commitment to safety and damage prevention.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive damage investigations to establish incident circumstances, factors, and root causes.
• Review locate tickets, field notes, photographs, maps, and other evidence.
• Interview employees, contractors, and involved parties to gather accurate details.
• Prepare objective investigation reports with findings and corrective actions.
• Identify patterns to reduce damages and improve locating accuracy.
• Support safety practices and communicate lessons learned for prevention.
