SAM is seeking a Damage Prevention Field Technician to safeguard underground infrastructure and promote safe excavation practices. You will leverage your locating expertise to identify and mark utilities, support contractors, homeowners, and utility stakeholders in the field.

In this role you will visit active sites, verify markings, and maintain records using company tools. The position emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous utility experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret utility maps, prints, and records.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently in the field, adapt to changing conditions on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Visit active job sites to monitor excavation activities and ensure safe digging practices.
• Utilize locating experience to identify and mark underground utility lines with standard equipment.
• Verify accuracy of utility markings and perform remark requests as needed.
• Investigate conflicts, discrepancies, and damage prevention concerns in the field.
• Collaborate with homeowners, contractors, excavators, and utility crews to promote safe digging awareness.
• Maintain records of locate activities, site visits, and field observations using company software and mobile tech.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on locating and marking activities.
