Duties & Responsibilities

Performs maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting of dam and flood-control equipment, including hydraulic systems, gates, pumps, motors, generators, valves, and control systems. Operates gates and monitoring equipment to maintain proper water levels and flow while recording required data. Operates mobile land and floating equipment to support heavy equipment crews and the removal, repair, and replacement of gates, hydraulic cylinders, actuators, and related components.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Veterans' preference does not apply to this announcement.

Minimum Qualifications for the WG-10: (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LOCK AND DAM EQUIPMENT MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. This includes tasks associated with the maintenance of lock or lock and dam machinery and/or equipment including operating power driven hand tools, use of tools to accomplish maintenance tasks.

Minimum Experience Requirement: No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this position. Applicants must meet the Screen Out Element for further consideration.
