Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical and Controls Engineering Manager in Dallas to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering automated control solutions for global clients. You will drive project success from concept through completion, ensure NEC/UL/IEC compliance, and foster a high-performance engineering culture.

The role combines technical leadership with process improvement, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to align engineering with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in electrical and controls engineering.
• 2+ years in a managerial/supervisory role within electrical/controls engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN.
• Experience with Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, EcoStruxure, and Ignition.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, power distribution, and industrial control systems.
• Hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, UL67, UL891, and IEC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of electrical and controls engineers.
• Set goals, metrics, and professional development plans for team members.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback for improvement.
• Track department metrics and ensure staffing capacity for projects.
• Oversee multiple engineering projects from inception to completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Allocate resources across projects to optimize efficiency.
• Resolve design and technical challenges with compliant solutions.
• Ensure designs meet client requirements and safety/regulatory standards.
• Review BOMs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for PLC and HMI programming and integration.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to drive innovation.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve quality.
• Foster collaboration across electrical, controls, manufacturing, sales, and QA.
