Job summary

Automationtechies is seeking a Vice President of Engineering and Controls in Dallas, TX to lead strategic direction, technical execution, and growth of engineering, controls, automation, and systems integration.

You will manage a $50M department P&L, drive engineering standards, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and serve as the technical authority across electrical design, controls, and cybersecurity. This role partners with sales, PM, and operations to deliver on-time, on-budget projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and controls operations, including a department P&L of approximately $50M.
• Manage budgets, staffing, utilization, EBITDA, margins, revenue, and department performance.
• Establish engineering standards, design methodologies, and best practices across teams and offices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering and controls teams.
• Serve as the technical authority for electrical design, controls, automation, and systems integration.
• Oversee solutions involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS interfaces, industrial networking, and cybersecurity.
• Ensure engineering work meets applicable NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, UL, and customer requirements.
• Partner with project management, operations, and field services to deliver projects safely, on time, and on budget.
• Support complex projects, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and technical problem resolution.
• Partner with sales and business development on project scoping, estimates, proposals, and customer solutions.
• Build long-term customer relationships and represent our client as a technical leader in systems integration.
• Drive continuous improvement, standardization, quality, safety, and operational performance.
