Job summary

DFA in Michigan is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support a single plant's process controls and electrical engineering projects, with occasional duties at other locations.

You will work on documenting specs, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and ensuring GMP and regulatory compliance, while maintaining project budgets.

Candidates should have an engineering degree and 2–4 years' dairy industry experience, with HMI and ControlLogix experience and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical preferred) or related field.
• 2–4 years of multi-disciplinary technical experience in the food industry, preferably dairy.
• Experience with HMI and ControlLogix programming, one-line and electrical schematic design, instrumentation.
• Certification and/or license may be required during employment.

Responsibilities

• Gather and provide information on controls, electrical design, and maintenance.
• Organize and maintain control and electrical documentation for process stability.
• Support implementation and upkeep of engineering plans at the site; coordinate with vendors.
• Track capital budgets and equipment schedules for projects.
• Communicate with DFA employees on projects, priorities, timetables, and budgets.
• Review specifications on drawings and literature for process controls.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and share technical insights.
• Stay informed about engineering practices to support project needs.
• Follow GMP and other regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as required.
