Job Summary

The Dairy Department Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service across the department. This includes managing inventory, margins, labor budgets, pricing, and merchandising standards. The manager ensures all team members are properly trained and supervised, performing tasks such as ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, and merchandising effectively. Familiarity with store products and their locations is essential to assist customers. The role exemplifies Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring to employees.
  2. Assign daily tasks to department employees.
  3. Ensure clarity of roles for each team member.
  4. Train staff on how to use scanning guns and stock shelves.
  5. Monitor product expiration dates, stock products, build displays, and handle damages and credits per company policy.
  6. Ensure team members perform stocking and cleanup duties efficiently and timely.
  7. Enforce safety and sanitation guidelines among team members.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of department functions.
  • Proficient in computer and math skills.
  • Current Food Handler Certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, leadership, and team members.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or in groups.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., lift/move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in coolers and freezers with temperature variations.
  • Occasional high-stress situations.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and availability during/after work hours.
