Overview:

The Boys Unit Leader supervises the cabin areas of the boys' cabins. They oversee cabin counselors and help manage camper behaviors during the day. They serve as a resource for staff to ensure all campers are safe and have fun. The Boys Unit Leader assists with scheduling time off, van runs, and supporting their team to create a memorable summer at camp.

Responsibilities:
  • Hold staff accountable for punctuality at meals, activities, and bedtime, and help resolve related issues.
  • Ensure cabins and surrounding areas are clean, exits are safe, and the space is welcoming through daily checks.
  • Assist staff in creating schedules for campers' daily activities, including hygiene and hydration.
  • Roam during activity periods to ensure safe participation of all campers.
  • Coach staff on managing camper behaviors and equip them with tools for safe participation and skill development.
  • Complete necessary paperwork such as incident reports and grant reports as assigned.
  • Follow up with staff to ensure paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
  • Report facility issues promptly to the Property Manager.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to facilitate programs and stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periods.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Duties:
  • Follow all camp rules and policies, including state and accreditation guidelines.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings before camp and during the season.
  • Supervise and coach cabin counselors and program staff, assisting with managing camper behaviors.
  • Conduct mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations for staff.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 25 years old.
  • Experience working with youth, preferably in a residential camp setting.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Passion for providing a positive camp experience.
  • Good health and physical condition for outdoor work and long hours.
  • Must reside on camp during the session.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
