Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets is seeking a Dairy/Deli/Frozen (DDF) Manager in a busy California store to lead daily operations, ensure quality, and drive department performance. You’ll supervise a team, manage inventories, and uphold food safety standards while maintaining Vallarta’s culture of respect and teamwork.

The role focuses on forecasting sales, controlling expenses, training staff, and delivering exceptional customer experiences in a fast-paced, festive environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of grocery operations, merchandising, and vendor relations.
• 2–3 years of retail management or supervisory experience in dairy, deli, or frozen.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to forecast sales, manage labor, and control expenses.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and workplace safety.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fast-paced retail setting with direct customer interaction.
• Exposure to perishable products, cooking/cooling equipment, and changing conditions.
• Collaborative, team-focused workplace.
• Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Supervision: Delegate and manage tasks, schedules, and personnel.
• Customer Service: Model extraordinary service by greeting customers and assisting with questions.
• Team Development: Train clerks and department staff to meet performance standards.
• Operations: Forecast sales, control expenses, review invoices, and order from approved vendors.
• Merchandising: Ensure shelves and displays are stocked, rotated, and signed properly.
• Compliance & Safety: Promote Vallarta’s Safety Program, ensure adherence to health regulations.
• Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of equipment, storage areas, and displays.
• Inventory Control: Conduct quarterly audits, review transfers, manage spoilage and damaged goods.
