Vallarta Supermarkets in the United States is seeking a Dairy/Deli/Frozen (DDF) Manager to lead daily operations of dairy, deli, and frozen departments. You will drive sales and profits while ensuring food safety and merchandising standards, and you will guide a team to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll supervise clerks, forecast sales, control expenses, and maintain displays, with a focus on Vallarta’s culture of respect and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail management or supervisory experience in dairy, deli, or frozen preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to forecast sales, manage labor, and control expenses.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and workplace safety.
• Basic computer skills with Excel, Word, and Outlook; English proficiency required.

About the Role

The Dairy/Deli/Frozen (DDF) Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the daily operations, quality, and performance of the dairy, deli, and frozen departments. This role drives sales and profit goals, ensures compliance with food safety and merchandising standards, and leads a team to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining Vallarta’s culture of respect, teamwork, and commitment.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Supervision: Delegate and manage tasks, schedules, and personnel. Conduct evaluations, provide feedback, and mentor employees for growth and promotions.

Customer Service: Model extraordinary service by greeting customers and assisting with questions, concerns, and purchases.

Team Development: Supervise and train clerks and department staff to meet performance standards, enforce policies, and foster positive relations.

Operations: Forecast sales, control expenses, review invoices, and order from approved vendors to maximize sales and minimize shrinkage.

Merchandising: Ensure shelves and displays are stocked, rotated, and signed properly. Build and maintain attractive product displays and maintain schematic integrity.

Compliance & Safety: Promote Vallarta’s Safety Program, ensure adherence to health regulations, and correct unsafe acts or conditions immediately.

Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of equipment, storage areas, and displays, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.

Inventory Control: Conduct quarterly audits, review transfers, manage spoilage and damaged goods, and ensure accurate reporting.

Other Duties: Attend meetings, communicate with store leadership, and perform additional tasks as needed to support store success.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for long periods (6–8 hours/day).

Frequently bend, squat, twist, kneel, and reach above/below shoulders.

Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally; heaviest item: 61 lbs., longest distance: 12 feet (using buddy system for pallets).

Operate manual jacks, power jacks, forklifts, and pallet equipment safely.

Work near equipment and machinery, with exposure to noise, and varying temperatures

May be required to perform tasks at elevated levels (placing or retrieving items).

What We’re Looking For

Knowledge of grocery operations, merchandising, and vendor relations.

2–3 years of retail management or supervisory experience in dairy, deli, or frozen preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to forecast sales, manage labor, and control expenses.

Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and workplace safety.

Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Fast-paced retail setting with direct customer interaction.

Exposure to perishable products, cooking/cooling equipment, and changing conditions.

Collaborative, team-focused workplace.

Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
