Job summary

Kroger is seeking an enthusiastic team member to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a clean, safe store environment in Layton, UT. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales goals, answer customer questions, and recommend products while upholding Kroger’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, inclusion and safety.

The role emphasizes helping customers, stocking and labeling merchandise, and following food safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of dairy specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered.
• Recommend dairy items to customers to ensure they get what they want.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads, including seasonal promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report all safety risks, theft, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
