Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Cytotechnologist (PRN) to join our Kansas City team. The Cytotechnologist/Cytotech will prepare and store specimens, perform staining, and ensure documentation is complete for review by the Pathologist.

The role involves examining cell samples for cancer and abnormalities, preparing PAP smears and FNAs, and maintaining quality and safety standards in the laboratory. PRN status means flexible hours to support coverage.

Responsibilities

• Stains, mounts, and studies cells to detect cancer, hormonal abnormalities and other pathologies, following established standards and practices.
• Examine cell samples to detect abnormal hormone conditions.
• Examine cell samples to detect abnormalities in color, shape, or size of cellular components.
• Evaluate cells for the presence of cancer, precancerous changes, or infections.
• Prepare and analyze samples, such as PAP smears and FNAs, to detect abnormal conditions.

The Cytotechnologist / Cytotech is responsible for preparation and storage of all specimens and necessary documentation. Prepares stains and slides for reading by Cytotechnologist or review by the Pathologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Stains, mounts, and studies cells of human body to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities and other pathological conditions, following established standards and practices: Prepares microscopic slides from specimens of blood, scrapings, or other bodily exudates and fixes stains and slide to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under microscope.
• Examine cell samples to detect abnormal hormone conditions.
• Examine cell samples to detect abnormalities in the color, shape, or size of cellular components and patterns.
• Evaluate cells for the presence of cancer, precancero us changes, or infections.
• Prepare and analyze samples, such as Papanicolaou (PAP) smear body fluids and fine needle aspirations ( FNAs) to detect abnormal conditions
