Job Details

Cytology Supervisor - Irving, TX - Monday - Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

$5,000 Sign On Bonus for External Candidates

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cytology laboratory and supervision of the cytotechnology staff, including monitoring and maintaining turn-around-time and pending cases. Supervises personnel functions including hiring, training, competency assessments, performance appraisals, vacation schedules, and overtime. Maintains quality assurance documentation and facilitates continuing education. Accountable for all activities related to the examination of Gyn and Non-Gyn specimens, including monitoring performance and overall testing quality across all phases.

Provides backup for cytotechnologists when needed.

Pay Range and Benefits

Pay Range: $89,100+ per year, based on skills, experience, education, and certifications. Potential for annual performance bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise scheduling, support, and coaching of cytotechnology staff.
• Coordinate hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain documentation and reports related to laboratory activities.
• Manage workflow, TAT, and pending cases, providing reports to management.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, local, federal).
• Lead and participate in training, inspections, and quality control activities.
• Oversee follow-up of abnormal cases and cytology/histology correlation.
• Perform duties of a cytotechnologist as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a cytology lab, including leadership roles.
• At least 4 years supervisory experience in a NYS licensed lab.
• ASCP certification as CT (required), current state licensure, and liquid-based cytology certification (ThinPrep/SurePath).

Physical and Knowledge Requirements

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods. Meet CLIA requirements for cytotechnologist and supervisor roles.
