HNL Lab Medicine in Allentown, PA is seeking a Cytology Specialist to perform cellular evaluations and provide accurate preliminary diagnoses for a variety of specimens. You will work under technical supervision, prioritize cases, and coordinate with pathologists for definitive results.

The role emphasizes adherence to CLIA high-complexity requirements, accurate marking of representative cells, and participation in quality and CAP procedures. Onsite schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
• Certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates prepared anatomic specimens for interpretation of benign, premalignant and malignant conditions.
• Determines if cellular changes meet guidelines and referrals to pathologist.
• Marks cells most representative of pathological process.
• Provides preliminary differential diagnosis for GYN and Non-GYN specimens.
• Screens work with minimal discrepancy between technologist and pathologist.
• Maintains workload within limits and adheres to turnaround times.
• Prepares specimens for diagnostic analysis when requested.
• Assists in CAP inspection and CAP procedure revisions.
• Assists radiologist in fine needle biopsy procedures and coordinates with pathologist via telepathology.
