Job summary

One Stop Recruiting is seeking a Cytopreparation Technician for the Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. The role focuses on receiving, preparing, and processing cytology specimens for timely diagnoses, with options for a consistent full-time schedule and flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cytology or histology laboratory work experience.
• Familiarity with LIS and specimen tracking systems.
• Proficient in cytology specimen processing and staining techniques.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify specimens and request forms, resolving discrepancies.
• Accession and log specimens with volume, density, color, and counts.
• Perform cyto-preparation steps including smearing and staining.
• Prepare cell blocks and examine slides for quality control.
• Operate liquid-based cytology instrumentation and troubleshoot when needed.
• Maintain logs, organize slides, and keep work area clean and safe.
• Stock supplies, assist with daily runs to main lab and clinic sites.
