Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Cytology Supervisor to lead the cytology laboratory in Evanston, IL. You will supervise daily operations, coordinate staff, ensure accurate gynecologic and non-gynecologic testing, and uphold CLIA/CAP standards to support high-quality diagnostics.

Responsibilities include staff training, competency assessments, quality assurance, and collaboration with pathologists and leadership to improve patient care and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• ASCP Cytotechnologist certification or completion of a cytotechnology program accredited by CAAHEP is required as stated in CLIA.
• Minimum of three year full-time experience as a cytotechnologist within the preceding ten years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily cytology laboratory operations and ensure efficiency and coverage.
• Coordinate staffing schedules and workflow.
• Perform and oversee microscopic evaluation of cytology specimens for diagnostic accuracy.
• Assist pathologists during FNA procedures and adequacy assessments.
• Ensure timely reporting of cytology results in the LIS and maintain regulatory compliance.
