Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Cytologist in Evanston, IL to oversee laboratory operations, evaluate gynecological and FNA specimens, and collaborate with Pathology for accurate diagnoses. The role includes reviewing results, troubleshooting, and ensuring proper labeling and documentation.

The position offers a $10K sign-on bonus and full-time hours with daily 8am–4:30pm shifts, located at Evanston Hospital. Travel is required and certification eligibility within the first year is noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
• CT(ASCP) certification or eligible within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations within the laboratory section, ensuring workflow and accurate specimen processing.
• Review documentation, address abnormal results, troubleshoot issues, and resolve specimen handling problems.
• Serve as primary resource for cytology procedures, instrument operations, and specimen handling.
• Evaluate and report gynecological, non-gynecological, and FNA specimens per standards.
• Match requisitions and slides, label slides, and mark material for review.
• Identify abnormal or high-risk cases and refer to the Clinical Pathologist as needed.
• Ensure timely entry of results into the computer system.
• Support FNA procedures by preparing supplies and specimens for evaluation.
• Collaborate with the Pathologist for evaluation and sample prep; ensure labeling.
• Participate in proficiency testing and complete tests within deadlines.
• Review incorrectly diagnosed cases to drive improvement.
• Manage inventory and resolve supply issues.
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe work area.
