Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist to perform complex laboratory tests for cytogenetic and FISH analysis under minimal supervision. The role includes specimen setup, slide preparation, staining, imaging, and karyotyping, with attention to detecting subtle abnormalities.

The successful candidate will handle high volumes, assist others, and participate in continuing education, training, and procedure development in a busy clinical lab.

Qualifications

• Must have CAP/CLIA/NYSDOH compliant education and licensure.
• ASCP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Set up specimens and accessioning per lab protocols.
• Harvest and prepare slides for G-band/metaphase/FISH analyses.
• Stain slides and perform microscopic analysis with quality control.
• Image cells for karyotyping and document findings.
• Perform karyotyping and prepare cases for sign-out.
• Perform FISH studies with accurate interpretation and imaging.
• Contribute to technical development and new procedures; participate in training.
