Job summary

University of Rochester is seeking a Cytogenetics Technician to provide specialized testing and support in the Microarray laboratory. You will perform morphologic analysis, karyotyping, and FISH, while maintaining instruments and adhering to QA protocols. Teaching and documentation responsibilities are included.

The role requires a Bachelors in a relevant field and NYS licensure eligibility, with full-time hours and a day shift, based in Rochester, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, biochemistry, or biology with NYS program completion.
• Advanced NYS designated program completion required.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs morphologic microscopic analysis and karyotyping of specimens.
• Performs FISH analysis for neoplasia detection.
• Provides educational support and training within the lab.
• Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Records results using computer/instrument interfaces.
• Adheres to quality control and QA protocols.
