The University of Rochester is seeking a Cytogenetics professional to provide specialized testing and support in the Microarray laboratory. Located at 211 Bailey Rd, Rochester, NY, this full-time role involves performing complex cytogenetic analyses, maintaining instruments, and ensuring strict quality control.

Minimum education includes a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related fields with NYS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemistry, biochemistry, or biology and NYS designated program required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• NYS Licensed or eligible for NYS licensure in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a NYS Restricted License in Cytogenetics upon hire required.

Responsabilités

• Provides specialized testing and support for the lab section.
• Performs complex technical assignments requiring theoretical insight.
• Maintains and standardizes instruments; conducts daily quality control.
• Performs morphologic analysis and karyotyping on amniotic fluids, CVS, and fetal samples.
• Analyzes leukemic bone marrows and tumors for chromosome abnormalities.
• Performs FISH microscope analysis.
• Delivers education and training within the lab.
• Conducts preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments.
• Records results via computer/instrument interfaces.
• Adheres to QC/QA protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.
