Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to join the Cybersecurity Risk team at the Stassney campus in Austin, TX. The role involves assisting with security assessments, developing configuration baselines, and learning to operate a broad suite of security tools to defend TxDOT against cyber threats.

During summer, the intern will work in person at the Stassney Campus, Monday through Friday, day schedule; in the school year, expected to work 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
• Internship position assisting Cybersecurity Risk team to protect and learn security operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans to safeguard computer configuration and data files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
• Design, automate, manage, and deploy security applications and infrastructure program activities.
• Assist in monitoring and analyzing security events and alerts from security tools and information systems.
• Triage incidents and escalate findings with clear documentation; support security assessments and remediation verification.
• Support security assessments, vulnerability and configuration reviews, basic log analysis, and remediation actions verification.
• Work with technical teams to resolve non-standard issues and learn agency standards and best practices.
