Job summary

Hawaiian Electric Company offers a Summer Internship program that provides hands-on, project-based experiences mentored by experienced staff. Interns gain real-life, professional exposure, with opportunities to present their deliverables to management at the end of the session.

Participants must be current students in good standing, pursuing cybersecurity or related degrees, and must meet GPA requirements. Location is Oahu; schedule is Monday–Friday with 7:30 am–4:00 pm and compensation starts

Qualifications

• Must be a current, active student at a post‑secondary school (college or community college).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must be attending school Fall 2027.
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be studying a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, MIS, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• Security+ certification, Microsoft, Networking and IT Help Desk experience a plus.
• For Summer 2027, we will accept applications from students whose expected graduation date is December 2027 or later.

Responsibilities

• Work on a research and objective-based project under a dedicated mentor.
• Participate in cross-functional activities to learn about life at Hawaiian Electric.
• Receive coaching from experienced employees to develop technical skills.
• Present project deliverables in an open forum at the end of the session.
