Job summary

Cox Enterprises is seeking Cybersecurity Interns to join our team in a hybrid role with remote work part of the week. The internship offers exposure to security operations, governance, and secure development practices, with mentorship and real project experience.

Hourly base pay ranges from $24.23 to $36.35, depending on location and skills, and may include additional incentive programs. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as IT with Cybersecurity focus or CS/MIS.
• Interest in cybersecurity and related disciplines preferred.
• Exposure to scripting languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Cyber Defense initiatives to improve security operations and responses.
• Assist with GRC programs to improve metrics and data governance.
• Support application security reviews to identify risks.
• Assist cloud security posture management and policies.
• Coordinate with DevOps to keep code and apps secure.
• Contribute to cyber M&A remediation prioritization.

Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $24.23 - $36.35/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Projects / assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Support Cyber Defense initiatives that include improvements to security operations and supporting solutions, as well as threat detection and response capabilities
• Support Cyber Governance, Risk and Compliance (“GRC”) programs to improve the way we collect and action on metrics, onboard new supplier relationships securely, and manage data and privacy governance policies and capabilities
• Assist with application security reviews to identify and mitigate security and privacy risks
• Support cloud security team through development and tuning of posture management policies
• Integrate with DevOps teams to represent cybersecurity and help keep our code, infrastructure, and apps secure
• Contribute to our Cyber M&A program to assess new businesses in which Cox takes an ownership stake and identify and prioritize remediation of cyber risks

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as Information Technology (with a concentration in Cybersecurity), Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related degree program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to Cyber Scripting experience (Python, Javascript, etc.)
• Business / process documentation experience
• Leadership experience
• Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel experience
