American Family Insurance offers a Summer 2027 Cybersecurity Internship located in Madison, WI or Boston, MA. The program runs 10–14 weeks, starting mid-May and ending in August, with on-site or hybrid work arrangements.

Interns will work with cloud/platform security engineers to deploy controls, fix misconfigurations, and contribute to security metrics and documentation. You must be a student in a 4-year program (Bachelor's/Master's/PhD) with Python development skills and the ability to learn

Qualifications

• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
• An ideal candidate will have development skills (Python) with the ability to quickly learn CloudFormation and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Assist with the implementation and validation of cloud security controls across cloud platforms to support secure application and infrastructure deployments.
• Contribute to the development of security metrics, dashboards, and documentation to enhance visibility into the organization's cloud security posture.
• Partner with cybersecurity engineers to identify, remediate, and document cloud security misconfigurations through automation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
