Ladders is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering & Operations Director to own strategy and operations across cloud-native and corporate environments. You will drive measurable improvements in controls, incident response, vulnerability management, and application security.

We seek a leader with 10+ years in cybersecurity (5+ in leadership), AWS security expertise, and hands-on SIEM/EDR experience, plus automation skills in Python and Terraform. Remote US-based.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering & Operations Director to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This leadership role will own the strategy and execution of cybersecurity engineering and operations across cloud-native and corporate environments. The ideal candidate will drive measurable improvements in security controls, incident response, vulnerability management, and application security. This position will partner closely with technical and business stakeholders to reduce risk, strengthen resilience, and support secure growth across the organization.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $190,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the cybersecurity engineering and operations strategy with measurable outcomes
• Lead the design and improvement of security controls across AWS and corporate environments
• Manage technical security operations and incident response processes
• Oversee vulnerability and exposure management programs, prioritizing risk-based remediation
• Provide security leadership for Microsoft 365 and application security across the SDLC
• Mentor and develop cybersecurity team members, defining career paths and processes
• Serve as a senior technical security advisor to internal departments and manage security vendors

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles
• Deep expertise in securing cloud-native enterprise SaaS applications, particularly with AWS
• Strong experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management
• Experience securing Microsoft 365 and implementing privileged access management
• Strong understanding of application and API security, with automation skills in Python and Terraform
• Hands-on proficiency with AI tools in security workflows, including LLM integrations
• Ability to communicate complex cybersecurity risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
