Job summary

Permian Resources is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer in Midland, TX to design, implement, and maintain security controls protecting information systems, data, and cloud environments. You will focus on IAM, incident response, vulnerability management, EDR/XDR, and security policy across the enterprise IT landscape.

The role requires 5+ years in cybersecurity, hands-on IAM, incident response leadership, and experience with EDR/XDR and SIEM platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or a related role.
• Hands‑on experience with IAM including SSO, MFA, conditional access, RBAC, and PAM.
• Demonstrated experience leading incident response including containment, eradication and recovery.
• Experience operating a vulnerability management program—scanning, risk-based prioritization and remediation.
• Experience deploying and operating EDR/XDR and/or SIEM platforms.
• Experience with security policy and procedure development.
• Strong understanding of threat analysis and mitigation techniques.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF and related standards.
• OT/ICS security experience a plus; cloud security (Azure, AWS, GCP) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer IAM services including SSO, MFA, conditional access, RBAC, and PAM.
• Lead incident response across detection, containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Drive post‑incident reviews and lessons learned.
• Operate the vulnerability management program—scanning, risk-based prioritization, and remediation tracking.
• Deploy, tune, and operate EDR/XDR and SIEM tooling to detect and respond to threats.
• Design and implement security solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, DLP, and cloud controls.
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Conduct threat analysis and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated across the infrastructure.
• Research and evaluate new security technologies and provide security awareness training.
