Job summary

American Express is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer I to develop, enhance, test, and support secure software for the AuthBlue SSO platform across the organization. You will work on frontend and backend components, APIs, and integrations, applying secure development practices and collaborating with cybersecurity teams, product partners, and stakeholders.

This role focuses on building scalable, reliable authentication and identity services within a Fortune 100 company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 2–4 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java with Spring Boot.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js skills.
• Experience with Git and code reviews.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP, JSON, and integration concepts.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid foundation in OOP, data structures, and testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and Agile development practices.
• Ability to collaborate, communicate clearly, and learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop frontend and backend components of the AuthBlue SSO platform with secure, scalable authentication services.
• Implement features and resolve defects with guidance from senior engineers.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations supporting authentication and IAM.
• Write maintainable, secure code and participate in code reviews and testing.
• Contribute to the software development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Apply secure development practices including input validation and data protection.
• Troubleshoot and debug across frontend and backend components and services.
• Support CI/CD, monitoring, and software delivery improvements for reliability.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams, product partners, and stakeholders to meet security objectives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and participate in Agile ceremonies.
