Job summary

Cooley LLP is seeking a Technology Cyber Security Architect to join our technology team in Boston. The role focuses on designing advanced security architectures for on‑premises, hybrid, and AI-enabled environments, with emphasis on AI/ML systems and threat detection.

You will collaborate with engineering, privacy, and governance teams to embed security into system design and delivery. You will lead security reviews, define standards, and ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years direct applicable experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems architecture
• Strong knowledge of network security, IAM, encryption, and endpoint security
• Ability to translate business requirements into secure technical designs
• Experience with security tools and architecture (DLP, WAF, firewalls, SIEM)
• Familiarity with security frameworks and AI/regulatory considerations

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise security architecture across on-prem, hybrid, and AI-enabled environments
• Define security standards, patterns, and reference architectures
• Conduct security architecture reviews for new systems and AI/ML platforms
• Embed security, privacy, and governance into system design with engineering teams
• Design security controls for AI/ML systems and data pipelines
• Identify and mitigate AI-related risks (data leakage, model poisoning, prompt injection)
• Evaluate security tools and AI-enabled technologies
• Ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR and AI regulations
• Establish guardrails for secure generative AI use and auditability
• Support incident response and post-incident improvements
• Provide guidance to security engineers and stakeholders
• Communicate decisions and risks to leadership
• Participate in 7x24 on-call rotation
• Other duties as assigned
