Job summary

Cooley LLP is seeking a Technology Cyber Security Architect to join the technology team in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on designing advanced security architecture and threat detection while mitigating risks in AI-enabled environments.

You will collaborate with Technology and Innovation teams to embed security across systems and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks. The position requires 3+ years of relevant experience (5+ for senior level), strong IAM, encryption, network security

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems architecture experience; 5+ years for senior level.
• Strong knowledge of network security, IAM, encryption and endpoint protection.
• Ability to translate business requirements into secure technical designs.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, GDPR, AI regs).

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise security architecture across on-prem, hybrid, and AI-enabled environments.
• Define security standards, reference architectures and patterns.
• Conduct security architecture reviews for systems, AI/ML platforms, and changes.
• Embed security, privacy, and governance into design and delivery with cross-functional teams.
• Design security controls for AI/ML systems including data pipelines and model integration.
• Support incident response and post-incident architecture improvements.
• Mentor security engineers and communicate risks to leadership.
