Job summary

MITRE’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Department is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Protection Intern to support the security and resilience of cyber-physical systems.

You will work with engineers and analysts on ICS/OT security, HITL ranges, and OT adversary emulation platforms like Caldera for OT, contributing to projects advancing national security while partnering with federal and industry sponsors.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
• Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
• Foundational knowledge in cybersecurity and/or operational technology methodologies, frameworks, tools, and/or programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Apply cybersecurity, operational technology, and systems engineering skills in areas such as ICS/SCADA and OT system and device security.
• Perform critical infrastructure resilience, safety, and mission impact analysis.
• Assist OT engineering, testing, and incident response support.
• Support OT adversary emulation using platforms such as Caldera for OT.
• Contribute to HITL range support, integration, and troubleshooting for OT environments.
• Inform government policies related to cybersecurity, incident response, and critical infrastructure protection.
