Job summary

University System of New Hampshire seeks a Cyber Operations Engineer to implement, monitor, and improve cybersecurity technologies and processes across USNH. You will support ISS and collaborate with infrastructure, IAM, apps, and campus teams to protect information assets and reduce risk.

The role covers threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, security monitoring, and security engineering, with duties spanning on‑prem and cloud environments and ongoing process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, IS, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security monitoring, or incident response activities.
• Experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and security principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to pass a police department background check and reside within commutable distance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity incidents and attacks.
• Administer vulnerability management platforms and coordinate remediation with teams.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reports on vulnerability trends and remediation progress.
• Design and implement security controls for on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Support audits, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with technology teams to promote secure design and operations.
