Job summary

Thrivent Financial is seeking a Manager of Cyber Defense Engineering to lead engineering teams focused on Asset Protection and Threat Detection & Response across Thrivent’s enterprise environment.

The role directs design, delivery, and operation of firewall, server/endpoint security, DLP, vulnerability scanning, and SIEM/SOAR capabilities, partnering with product, risk, and business stakeholders to reduce cyber risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of information technology experience including 5+ years in an IT discipline.
• 3+ years of leadership and 3+ years of management/supervisory experience in IT.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders and lead multidiscipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity engineering teams responsible for Asset Protection and Threat Detection & Response across enterprise environments.
• Set clear priorities, remove delivery barriers, and align engineering with roadmaps and risk-reduction goals.
• Oversee firewall engineering, server/endpoint security, DLP, and vulnerability scanning to strengthen infrastructure security.
• Guide SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management engineering for enterprise threat visibility and response.
