Job summary

Pennoni is seeking Fulltime and Part Time Certified Welding Inspectors in Raleigh, NC, with opportunities to work in AL, KY, NC, SC, TN, VA, and WV to support QA fabrication inspection programs for transportation infrastructure projects.

As a CWI, you will inspect structural steel fabrication, welding, and coatings, verify compliance with shop drawings and WPS/PQRs, monitor fabrication processes, and document non-conformances while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• 0–3 years structural steel fabrication inspection experience.
• Experience in fabrication shop environments.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1/D1.5 requirements.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of structural steel fabrication, welding, and coatings.
• Verify compliance with shop drawings, WPS/PQRs, and welder certifications.
• Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards, including AWS D1.5/D1.1, AASHTO, and DOT specifications.
• Monitor fabrication processes including welding, bolting, and coating.
• Witness and document NDT activities.
• Identify and report non-conformances.
• Prepare detailed daily reports.
• Coordinate with fabricators and project teams.
• Provide updates to clients, and internal project teams.
