Job summary

Fickett Structural Solutions, Inc. seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform VT inspections on structural steel for buildings, bridges, dams, and fabrication shops in Madison or Milwaukee. Direct-hire, with active CWI status and D1.1/D1.5 experience.

You will prepare reports, ensure code compliance with AWS, ASTM, ICC, OSHA, and coordinate with project teams. Travel to job sites, safety-driven work, and a competitive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• Holds a current Certificate as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with D1.1 or D1.5 work experience.
• 1+ year of experience as a CWI performing in-service or shop welding inspections.
• Familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which certified and able to work without direct supervision.
• Experience with structural steel welding inspections, bolting inspections, and writing reports.
• Ability to obtain ICC Special Inspections certification for 2.1 Structural Steel: Steel High Strength Bolting and 2.2 Structural Steel: Steel – Welding within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to read and understand engineering/construction plans, specs, codes and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform VT visual inspections on structural steel for buildings, bridges, dams, and related structures.
• Coordinate inspections with project manager and Engineer of Record.
• Prepare timely, detailed inspection reports with photos and drawings of nonconformities.
• Ensure compliance with AWS, ASTM, ICC, OSHA and other applicable codes.
• Maintain safety and properly use inspection equipment on site.
