Job summary

A structural steel fabricator in Wisconsin seeks a Certified Welding Inspector with AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II to ensure welds, materials and assemblies meet codes and quality standards. You’ll report to the Quality Manager and collaborate with production teams on complex bridge and heavy structural projects.

The role emphasizes inspection discipline, adherence to WPS and blueprints, and continuous improvement in shop quality processes.

Qualifications

• MUST HAVE... current AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II certification.
• Structural steel or fabrication experience preferred.
• Strong blueprint reading skills.
• Good understanding of welding codes and specifications.
• Experience using inspection and measurement equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Safety-focused and confident making quality decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual, dimensional, layout and fit-up inspections.
• Monitor welding parameters and compliance with WPS requirements.
• Monitor welder qualification testing.
• Conduct bolt rotational capacity testing.
• Assist with Total Station measurements.
• Maintain accurate QC records and inspection documentation.
• Identify and resolve quality issues alongside production teams.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate QC hold points and support external/DOT inspections.
• Work closely with welders, leadmen and supervisors to maintain production flow.
• Support continuous improvement across shop quality processes.

About the Opportunity

What You’ll Be Doing...
