Job summary

ECS Limited in Baltimore seeks a Specialty Technician to join our team for field observations, inspections, and testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and steel.

You will perform data collection, calculations, and drafting as required, with training in ECS methods and safety procedures. This role requires physical capability for site work and strong communication with site teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Willing to obtain 2 relevant specialty certifications (NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM).
• Ability to carry 40–70 lbs multiple times a day; occasionally 85 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance; transportation to job sites.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely; follow laws and policies.
• Strong communication skills (spoken/written).
• Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
• Understanding of heavy construction safety practices.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Proficiency with phones, tablets, and laptops.
• Read and interpret engineering/construction plans.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office.
• NDE testing focus; calibrate NDE equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials.
• Inspect structural steel and reinforcing steel using various methods per standards.
• Collect data, perform calculations, and assist with drafting and admin tasks.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors and project managers.
• Receive training in ECS methodology for observations, inspections, and testing.
