Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies. You will witness qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and sign inspection reports relied upon by engineers and building officials.

The role covers shop and field work, including high-strength bolting, with travel to project sites and potential per diem. An AWS CWI is required and ICC certifications are a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if needed).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with acceptance/rejection authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests; direct and interpret NDT.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for the engineer and building official.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting.
