Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Meridian, Idaho is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies to AWS codes. You will witness qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and sign inspection reports relied on by the engineer of record and the building officials.

This role requires a current AWS CWI and offers field and shop work with some travel; pay ranges from $38 to $52 per hour, with overtime as projects demand, and opportunities for advancement

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working command of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting special inspector certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it for retest closure.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write reports and repair instructions.
