Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II who holds accept/reject authority on structural steel and welded assemblies. You will inspect to AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required, witness qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and sign inspection reports relied on by the engineer and building official.

The role involves frequent travel between fabrication shops and erection sites, with pay from $38 to $52 per hour.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one other listed code.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
• Write repair instructions and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection.
• Sign inspection reports for engineer and building official.
