Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies in shop and field environments. You will witness qualification tests, review WPS/PQRs, and sign reports relied upon by engineers and building officials.

Requires current AWS CWI with 2+ years experience and knowledge of D1.1 plus at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104. ICC certifications preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred.
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it to close retest.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write repair instructions and reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
