Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Owensboro, KY seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies, inspecting to AWS D1.1/D1.5/D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required. You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, direct NDT, write inspection reports, and coordinate with the engineer of record and building official.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with at least 2 years of inspection experience.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting inspector certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Ability to defend rejection decisions and document them for retesting.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority per the project code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests and direct NDT.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and building official.
